Transfer music to Qobuz, keep Spotify playlists

How to keep your Spotify playlists with Qobuz (or Tidal, or Deezer, or Amazon Music Unlimited…)

It’s been a few years since Spotify first promised lossless music with an upcoming ‘hi-fi’ subscription tier. As you all may know this promise never has come to pass. It may, but at this moment it has not.

If you listen to music every day and want it in best sound quality available, there is no excuse for not joining one of the HD music subscription services, ad-free. The costs are comparable (monthly fee will depend on service and country, also will vary for individual or joint ‘family’ accounts) and the music is streamed in CD quality and better, up to 24 bit/192 kHz flac format. The bitrate depends on the source but many landmark old recordings and many modern ones are in High Resolution HD audio.

Moving your Spotify playlists to another streaming platform

There is a number of online services which promise to transfer playlists from one type of music subscription to another. They usually have a fee for larger transfers and are free for a limited number of tracks. For Qobuz we have a recommendation with a free service.

To streamline the switch, Qobuz has a promo code which allows to use Soundiiz website for free. Here is the direct link. You need to login to your Qobuz account via Soundiiz website first, and initiate playlist migration. Choose Spotify as a platform and login into your Spotify account to start playlist grab. You can select what you want to take with you or just transfer everything.

Soundiiz also does interplatform migration within Tidal, Deezer and some other services. It is not a free service.

Another similar website is TuneMyMusic, which is recommended by Tidal. There is a fee for transfers which excess a certain amount of tracks (currently 500) and for automatic syncing of playlist. Free usage allows to export playlist in TX or CSV file which can be later imported into Tidal.

There are also free apps (FreeYourMusic), including open source (search github).
