All DMS and AiOS users, past and present…a new update is coming soon!
Be on the lookout for a firmware/feature update and a complimenting App update. Please know that when you update one, you must also update the other. This should start rolling out in about a week or so.
What’s new? A lot. In particular, an expansion of the “Connect” features of streaming services. What’s included depends on the model DMS you have. This update will bring parity to all, so let’s run down the list!
DMS-650, DMS-700, and DMS-800PV users.
This update removes the Spotify API and replaces it with Spotify Connect. Why? The API removal frees up internal space for possible future enhancements, and it’s clear that users prefer using Spotify Connect (and TIDAL Connect) instead of the limited subset of features the APIs provide. In addition to navigating Spotify and TIDAL within their native app, allowing for a complete experience of these services, they also connect to the service’s servers directly, the same way as when using the Cary Streamer 2.0 app for the best possible sound quality. A win-win! Your phone/tablet acts merely as a remote control. The music does not pass through the phone!
DMS-550, DMS-600, and AiOS users.
This update adds both Spotify Connect and TIDAL Connect. Like DMS-650, DMS-700, and DMS-800PV users, the Spotify API is removed, and the TIDAL API remains for the time being, allowing users to access TIDAL one of several ways. Either through the Cary Streamer 2.0 app TIDAL API, TIDAL’s mobile or desktop native apps via TIDAL Connect, or through Roon.
DMS-500 users.
You’re the really lucky ones! This update adds the same Spotify Connect and TIDAL Connect features as all the other DMS products but also adds the Qobuz Streaming service to its list of features and services. Qobuz currently does not have a “Connect” feature, so it must be accessed via the Cary Streamer 2.0 app Qobuz API or Roon. Wow! A product over eight years old is getting updated to current levels of new features.
As of this latest update, all DMS and AiOS users will have the same features, services, and most other background items. We want to ensure that all of our customers, past and present, have access to these specific features to allow for the best user experience and sound reproduction possible.
We will continue to provide system firmware updates as needed to all DMS and AiOS products until the end of life is announced. However, please keep in mind that system firmware updates in the future will not include new features for discontinued products.
Enjoy, and thank you for your understanding.

NOTE: After you update your DMS/AiOS firmware and it boots back up to normal default, do a factory reset. Once the factory reset is complete and boots back up to normal default, pull the power cord for two minutes. Then, plug it back in and wait another minute or two. If your DMS or AiOS was connected to your router via WiFi, you will need to reconnect your DMS or AiOS to your WiFi.
